本文所述的情况,是肠道和异位形式的anisakiosis(Anisakisspp。)
Consumption of raw and mildly processed seafood, in the context of modern Western world eating trends, is recognized as a major driver for human fish-borne infections. However, these zoonoses and their unfamiliar risks remain neglected and underappreciated among European diagnosticians. In contemporary Europe anisakidosis is one of the most important fish-borne zoonoses. It is caused by ingesting the third-stage infective larvae of the nematode parasites that belong to the family Anisakidae. The case described herein, is an intestinal and ectopic form of anisakiosis (Anisakis spp.), causing symptoms of subacute abdomen and masquerading as an intraperitoneal malignancy. It is the first anisakidosis case reported in Greece, affecting a young patient who had been repeatedly exposed to the parasite by consuming homemade raw fish. Right hemicolectomy, omentectomy and excision of a descending colon nodule were uneventfully performed. The pathology report confirmed granulomatous tissue with eosinophilic infiltration and parasites that were morphologically and molecularly identified as Anisakis spp. Although challenging, acquiring an accurate diagnosis of anisakidosis can prevent unnecessary surgery, as the infection typically is self-resolving, and if treatment is deemed necessary, it can be limited to antiparasitic medication. However, in rare cases, extra-gastrointestinal migration of larvae can cause severe damage with practically unknown risks, posing a diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma. In such a clinical case scenario, surgical exploration can decisively contribute to a definitive diagnosis and early identification of intraabdominal complications necessitating surgical intervention.

A 53-year-old patient experienced 2 Anisakis-induced allergic episodes: the first with anaphylaxis, the second presenting with gastric symptoms and progressing to systemic anaphylaxis. The case could suggest a common pathophysiology involving allergic reactions in gastric anisakiasis and Anisakis allergy.

Anisakiasis is a parasitic infection caused by the ingestion of raw or undercooked seafood infected with Anisakis larvae. It generally affects the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the stomach, but very rare cases have been reported in which infection of the liver leads to the formation of inflammatory pseudotumors. We herein report an extremely rare case of an inflammatory pseudotumor induced by hepatic anisakiasis that was laparoscopically resected for the purpose of both diagnosis and treatment. A 51-year-old woman underwent a routine medical checkup by ultrasound examination, which incidentally detected a 15-mm mass on the surface of S6 of the liver. Because a malignant tumor could not be ruled out on several preoperative imaging studies, laparoscopic partial resection of the liver was performed. Histopathological examination revealed Anisakis larva in the inflammatory pseudotumor, suggesting hepatic anisakiasis. This report describes an extremely rare case of an inflammatory pseudotumor induced by hepatic anisakiasis. Because the preoperative diagnosis could not be obtained by several imaging modalities, laparoscopic liver resection with a sufficient margin might be suitable for diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

Anisakiasis is caused by consuming raw fish contaminated with Anisakis sp. larvae and is extremely rare, especially when originating in the esophagus. We present a case of esophageal anisakiasis in a 61-year-old male who experienced severe precordial pain and radiating discomfort to the neck after consuming raw fish sashimi. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed the presence of a larva in the upper esophagus. On the basis of anatomo-morphological features, the worm was provisionally identified as Anisakis sp. and was easily extracted with forceps, which led to a prompt improvement in the patient\'s symptoms. This case highlights the importance of considering anisakiasis as a differential diagnosis in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms and a history of consuming raw fish.

Extra-gastrointestinal anisakidosis is rare. We herein report an Anisakis pegreffii infection in a patient with hepatic anisakidosis diagnosed based on its molecular identification. A 71-year-old male patient had a hepatic tumor presenting as a low-density area of 20 mm in diameter in segment 6 of the liver on abdominal ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. The surgically resected pathological specimen revealed a necrotizing eosinophilic granuloma containing nematode larvae, possibly an Anisakis larva. Molecular and phylogenetic analysis demonstrated Anisakis larvae belonging to A. pegreffii. The present results will help identify and characterize unknown Anisakis species in histological sections.

UNASSIGNED: Anisakiasis is a parasitic disease caused by the consumption of raw or undercooked fish that is infected with Anisakis third-stage larvae. In countries, such as Japan, Italy, and Spain, where people have a custom of eating raw or marinated fish, anisakiasis is a common infection. Although anisakiasis has been reported in the gastrointestinal tract in several countries, reports of anisakiasis accompanied by cancer are rare.
UNASSIGNED: We present the rare case of a 40-year-old male patient with anisakiasis coexisting with mucosal gastric cancer. Submucosal gastric cancer was suspected on gastric endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasonography. After laparoscopic distal gastrectomy, granulomatous inflammation with Anisakis larvae in the submucosa was pathologically revealed beneath mucosal tubular adenocarcinoma. Histological and immunohistochemical investigation showed cancer cells as intestinal absorptive-type cells that did not produce mucin.
UNASSIGNED: Anisakis larvae could have invaded the cancer cells selectively because of the lack of mucin in the cancerous epithelium. Anisakiasis coexisting with cancer is considered reasonable rather than coincidental. In cancer with anisakiasis, preoperative diagnosis may be difficult because anisakiasis leads to morphological changes in the cancer.

A 36-year-old woman visited a previous doctor with lower abdominal pain and nausea. Her former doctor\'s upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and CT scan showed giant folds and wall thickening of the lower body of the stomach, and she was referred on suspicion of scirrhous gastric cancer. Similar findings were found on enhanced CT at our hospital. Endoscopic findings performed several days later showed red and thickened mucosa at the cardia, but no wall thickening and giant fold, and there were no findings suggestive of scirrhous gastric cancer. Biopsy showed no atypical cells, and a large number of eosinophils appeared in the lesion at the cardia. Eosinophilia and anisakis IgE antibody were positive and a diagnosis of gastric anisakiasis was made. She was eating grilled horse mackerel the day before her stomachache. At the same time, pruritus and edema around her right knee also appeared, and a dermatologist diagnosed her with anisakis-related eosinophil edema. One month later, CT scan and endoscopy were almost normal. A young woman referred on suspicion of scirrhous gastric cancer experienced a rare case diagnosed with gastric anisakiasis.

Anisakiasis is a parasitic disease caused by Anisakis simplex and has become an emerging zoonosis as preferences for eating raw or undercooked seafood have become more common. Few case reports of asymptomatic anisakiasis have been published to date. A 79-year-old asymptomatic man underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) for gastric cancer screening. The gastroenterologist diagnosed superficial gastritis without any malignant lesions but found an Anisakis larva while reviewing EGD images. The physician performed a second EGD and removed the larva. The patient reported that he ate the flatfish sashimi for dinner on the day before the first EGD. This case indicates the existence of asymptomatic gastric anisakiasis, indicating that anisakiasis incidence may have previously been underestimated.
