    Instrumental analysis is an important professional course for many chemistry majors. Its teaching content is rich, diverse and is closely related to daily life. Moreover, this course contains a large number of ideological and political resources. This study investigates chromatography technology in instrumental analysis as an example, focusing on aspects such as chromatography knowledge, solution preparation, standard operations, and guided experiments, to deeply explore the elements of ideological and political education and organically integrate them into the teaching of instrumental analysis courses. Academic teaching of professional knowledge increases the diversity and richness of the teaching content and enhances the innovative skills of the students. In addition, this teaching method can inspire students to establish life goals and great ideals, with the aim of ultimately cultivating moral people.

    As organic semiconductor materials gain increasing prominence in the realm of photocatalysis, two carbon-nitrogen materials, poly (heptazine imide) (PHI) and poly (triazine imide) (PTI), have garnered extensive attention and applications owing to their unique structure properties. This review elaborates on the distinctive physical and chemical features of PHI and PTI, emphasizing their formation mechanisms and the ensuing properties. Furthermore, it elucidates the intricate correlation between the energy band structures and various photocatalytic reactions. Additionally, the review outlines the primary synthetic strategies for constructing PHI and PTI, along with characterization techniques for their identification. It also summarizes the primary strategies for enhancing the photocatalytic performance of PHI and PTI, whose advantages in various photocatalytic applications are discussed. Finally, it highlights the promising prospects and challenges pertaining to PHI and PTI as photocatalysts.

    BACKGROUND: This study examined the social well-being of single older adults through the companionship of a social robot, LOVOT (Love+Robot; Groove X). It is designed as a companion for older adults, providing love and affection through verbal and physical interaction. We investigated older adults\' perceptions of the technology and how they benefitted from interacting with LOVOT, to guide the future development of social robots.
    OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to use a phenomenological research design to understand the participants\' experiences of companionship provided by the social robot. Our research focused on (1) examining the social well-being of single older adults through the companionship of social robots and (2) understanding the perceptions of single older adults when interacting with social robots. Given the prevalence of technology use to support aging, understanding single older adults\' social well-being and their perceptions of social robots is essential to guide future research on and design of social robots.
    METHODS: A total of 5 single women, aged 60 to 75 years, participated in the study. The participants interacted independently with the robot for a week in their own homes and then participated in a poststudy interview to share their experiences.
    RESULTS: In total, 4 main themes emerged from the participants\' interactions with LOVOT, such as caring for a social robot, comforting presence of the social robot, meaningful connections with the social robot, and preference for LOVOT over pets.
    CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that single older adults can obtain psychosocial support by interacting with LOVOT. LOVOT is easily accepted as a companion and makes single older adults feel like they have a greater sense of purpose and someone to connect with. This study suggests that social robots can provide companionship to older adults who live alone. Social robots can help alleviate loneliness by allowing single older adults to form social connections with robots as companions. These findings are particularly important given the rapid aging of the population and the increasing number of single-person households in Singapore.

    This paper explores the development of a multidisciplinary nursing informatics curriculum. The aim is to integrate multiple disciplines to meet the educational objectives of undergraduate nursing students. The curriculum design included a thorough needs assessment, curriculum development, and evaluation. Of the 29 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in the course, 21 completed the course evaluation with a response rate of 72.4%. The comprehensive assessment of the course (part 1) scored 93.7 out of 100, while the quality of the teacher\'s teaching (part 2) scored 93.4 out of 100. In addition, in response to the subjective questions, students expressed satisfaction with the course design and teaching methods, and emphasized the usefulness of the course for their future nursing practice.

    A novel pyridine-containing aromatic diamine monomer, 4-[4-hydroxyphenyl]-2,6-bis[4-(2-aminophenoxy)phenyl]pyridine (p,o-HAPP), was synthesized by a modified Chichibabin reaction of p-Hydroxybenzaldehyde and a substituted acetophenone, 4-(2-nitrophenoxy)acetophenone (p,o-NPAP), followed by a reduction of the resulting dinitro compound 4-[4-hydroxyphenyl]-2,6-bis[4-(2-nitrophenoxy)phenyl]pyridine with Pd/C and hydrazine monohydrate. The aromatic diamine was employed to prepare a series of pyridine-containing polyimides (PIs) by polycondensation with various aromatic dianhydrides in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) via the conventional two-step method. The inherent viscosities of the resulting poly(amic acids) and PIs were in range of 0.62-0.76 and 0.52-0.64 dL/g, respectively. The obtained novel PIs exhibited high solubility in common organic solvents, such as m-Cresol, DMF, N,N-dimethylacetamide, dimethylsulfoxide, N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), tetrahydrofuran, and chloroform. Meanwhile, flexible PI films were obtained, which had excellent thermal stability, with the glass transition temperature (T g) of 259.8-323.4 °C and the temperature at 10% weight loss of 485.5-576.4 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. The protonated polymer showed UV-vis absorption in the region 200-400 nm and displayed strong fluorescence intensity (470 nm) in NMP solution.

    This paper reports the design, synthesis, and antibacterial activity study of pleuromutilin derivatives with 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline and 2-methoxy-4-nitroaniline side chains at the C22 position. The structures of the new compounds were characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and HRMS. The inhibitory activity of the compounds against MSSA, pyogeniccoccus, streptococcus, and MRSA strains was determined using the micro broth dilution method. The results showed that the compounds exhibited certain activity against Gram-positive bacteria, among which compounds A8a, A8b, A8c, A8d, and A7 demonstrated superior antibacterial activity against MSSA, MRSA, and pyogeniccoccus compared to tiamulin, although the derivatives showed lower antibacterial activity against streptococcus compared to the control drug. Based on the favorable in vitro activity of A8c, the time-kill kinetics against MRSA were evaluated, revealing that compound A8c could inhibit bacterial proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner.

    Recently, due to physical aging, diseases, accidents, and other factors, the population with lower limb disabilities has been increasing, and there is consequently a growing demand for wheelchair products. Modern product design tends to be more intelligent and multi-functional than in the past, with the popularization of intelligent concepts. This supports the design of a new, fully functional, intelligent wheelchair that can assist people with lower limb disabilities in their day-to-day life. Based on the UCD (user-centered design) concept, this study focused on the needs of people with lower limb disabilities. Accordingly, the demand for different functions of intelligent wheelchair products was studied through a questionnaire survey, interview survey, literature review, expert consultation, etc., and the function and appearance of the intelligent wheelchair were then defined. A brain-machine interface system was developed for controlling the motion of the intelligent wheelchair, catering to the needs of disabled individuals. Furthermore, ergonomics theory was used as a guide to determine the size of the intelligent wheelchair seat, and eventually, a new intelligent wheelchair with the features of climbing stairs, posture adjustment, seat elevation, easy interaction, etc., was developed. This paper provides a reference for the design upgrade of the subsequently developed intelligent wheelchair products.

    With the popularity of smart terminals, wearable electronic devices have shown great market prospects, especially high-sensitivity pressure sensors, which can monitor micro-stimuli and high-precision dynamic external stimuli, and will have an important impact on future functional development. Compressible flexible sensors have attracted wide attention due to their simple sensing mechanism and the advantages of light weight and convenience. Sensors with high sensitivity are very sensitive to pressure and can detect resistance/current changes under pressure, which has been widely studied. On this basis, this review focuses on analyzing the performance impact of device structure design strategies on high sensitivity pressure sensors. The design of structures can be divided into interface microstructures and three-dimensional framework structures. The preparation methods of various structures are introduced in detail, and the current research status and future development challenges are summarized.

    Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a multi-target disease, is becoming a global epidemic. Although several anti-NASH drug candidates are being evaluated in late-stage clinical trials, none have been approved by the FDA to date. Given the global prevalence of the disease, the lack of effective drugs, and the very limited therapeutic efficacy of most of the existing synthetic drugs focusing on a single target, there is an urgent need to continue to develop new therapeutic agents. In contrast, many natural products, including pure compounds and crude extracts, possess hepatoprotective activities. Usually, these natural components are characterized by multi-targeting and low side effects. Therefore, natural products are important resources for the development of new anti- NASH drugs. In this paper, we focus on reviewing the anti-NASH potential, structure, and some of the side effects of natural products based on structural classification. We hope this mini-review will help researchers design and develop new anti-NASH drugs, especially based on the structure of natural products.

    Currently, the drugs used in clinical to treat psoriasis mainly broadly suppress cellular immunity. However, these drugs can only provide temporary and partial symptom relief, they do not cure the condition and may lead to recurrence or even serious toxic side effects. In this study, we describe the discovery of a novel potent CDK8 inhibitor as a treatment for psoriasis. Through structure-based design, compound 46 was identified as the most promising candidate, exhibiting a strong inhibitory effect on CDK8 (IC50 value of 57 nM) along with favourable inhibition against NF-κB. Additionally, it demonstrated a positive effect in an in vitro psoriasis model induced by TNF-α. Furthermore, this compound enhanced the thermal stability of CDK8 and exerted evident effects on the biological function of CDK8, and it had favourable selectivity across the CDK family and tyrosine kinase. This compound showed no obvious inhibitory effect on CYP450 enzyme. Further studies confirmed that compound 46 exhibited therapeutic effect on IMQ-induced psoriasis, alleviated the inflammatory response in mice, and enhanced the expression of Foxp3 and IL-10 in the dorsal skin in vivo. This discovery provides a new strategy for developing selective CDK8 inhibitors with anti-inflammatory activity for the treatment of psoriasis.
