    Immunocompromised people developed mucormycosis as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Antifungal medications, surgical excision of infected tissues, and therapy of underlying metabolic problems are available forms of treatment. Usually, surgery entails completely excising the affected area. The patient is at risk for nasal twang, nasal cavity leaks, and impaired masticatory function because of these anomalies. The obturator prosthesis may form an oro-nasal seal in such problems. Additionally, lowering the prosthesis weight contributes to improved stability and retention. This case report explains a novel flasking technique to lessen the prosthesis weight and a modified impression technique to capture the palatal deformity.

    The most common complication post COVID-19is mucormycosis. It is an opportunistic infection caused by the fungus mucormycetes which belongs to the order Mucorales. This infection can spread from the oral cavity to the nasal cavity and sometimes also involve the orbit. Surgical resection of the affected region followed by its prosthetic rehabilitation is one of the viable treatment options. In this case report, we will discuss the problems in designing and fabricating a hollow bulb obturator and its solutions.

    Defects involving the face and maxilla present a challenge to the prosthodontists as these have a direct effect on aesthetics, function as well as the psychology of the patient. An array of problems awaits the clinician from restoring the previous contour of the oral cavity, facial form, etc. to the mental state of the patients. This article deals with the rehabilitation of a hemimaxillectomy patient with a facial defect, using an interim hollow bulb obturator and a silicone facial prosthesis, which helped to improve the general well being of the patient. Rehabilitative procedures provide patients considerable care so that they can continue their life with confidence.

    Maxillary defects occur either as a result of surgical resection of malignant tumors of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses or of the congenital causes. Rehabilitation of the patients with maxillectomy defects presents a challenge in restoring the lost form, function and speech. Maxillary interim obturators in prosthetic reconstruction of the defects are often complicated with lack of adequate retention, stability, and support. This case report presents the simplified approach, to rehabilitate a case of sub-total maxillectomy due to squamous cell carcinoma of maxillary sinus, using a closed hollow bulb obturator prosthesis fabricated with a \"U\" loop and a modified buccal flange for enhanced retention of the prosthesis.

    Prosthodontic rehabilitation of acquired defects of the maxilla is a challenge in terms of reestablishing oronasal separation. Most of the times these goals are met by means of obturator prosthesis. Preservation of the remaining hard and soft tissues in such patients is very much essential in order to have a good retention, stability and support for the prosthesis. It is very much imperative to fabricate a prosthesis to provide proper function to the patient. Various techniques have been developed to enhance the retention and stability of the prosthesis, some of them being extension of the obturator bulb into the undercuts within the defect, use of magnets, implants etc. Telescopic crowns have been an adjunctive utility to prosthetic dentistry since a very long time. The biomechanics of telescopic crowns aid in providing a good retention and stability to the prosthesis. In the following clinical report a patient with a status of Subtotal Hemi Maxillectomy is presented in whom telescopic copings were incorporated into the cast hollow bulb obturator to enhance the retention and stability of the prosthesis.

    Defects can form after tumors in the maxillary region are resected surgically. Maxillofacial defects can affect a patient\'s physical, psychological, and social status. Surgery reduces the residual teeth and tissue\'s ability to provide optimal cross-arch support, stability, and retention. The design of the obturator can improve the esthetics of the prosthesis and give it a more lifelike appearance. This case report describes the fabrication of a cast metal framework design for a partial obturator prosthesis in a maxillectomy patient.
