Microstomia presents a challenge for the patient and dental provider. This report describes a partial digital workflow for the fabrication of a mandibular complete denture for a patient with microstomia. Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technology was utilized to 3D print a sectional custom tray with a unique design. The sectional custom tray was used to make a conventional border molded impression of the edentulous arch to fabricate a flexible complete mandibular denture for a 58-year-old female patient with scleroderma and microstomia. This treatment resulted in a successful prosthetic outcome and high patient satisfaction.

Gunshot injuries to the face can have serious aesthetic, functional, and psychological consequences. The incapacitating nature of maxillofacial defects makes reconstruction of the maxilla and mandible challenging, owing to multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation phase. Outcome of prosthodontic treatment is one of the important parameters by which a patient measures the success of rehabilitation. A 5-year follow-up of comprehensive surgical and prosthodontic reconstruction of a gunshot injury using dental implants is described. This case report illustrates the contribution of immediate dental implants with proper oral hygiene follow-up as an effective treatment modality in restoring a patient to near normal function and aesthetics.

The branch of Prosthodontics is not only a science but also an art of handling patients who present with limitations in continuing with normal procedures. An abnormally small mouth opening is called as microstomia. The common reasons for this condition include scleroderma, orofacial malignancies, surgery, burns and TMJ ankylosis. Impressions can be made for patients with restricted mouth opening with a sectional impression tray that can be assembled and disassembled in the mouth and reassembled outside the mouth. This article describes a sectional tray system for making preliminary and secondary impressions. Also an innovative technique of fabricating a sectional complete denture for a microstomic patient has been described.

Patients with microstomia who need to wear removable dental prosthesis often face difficulty of being unable to insert or remove the prosthesis because of restricted opening of the oral cavity. Prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with microstomia presents difficulties in all the clinical steps. In such patients, it is difficult to make impressions and fabricate dentures using conventional method. This clinical report describes prosthodontic management of a completely edentulous patient with microstomia developed due to oral sub mucous fibrosis. Sectional maxillary denture was fabricated using a sectional impression tray technique. With the use of magnets and palatal midline press button attachment, the denture could be easily inserted and removed in two parts. Mandibular denture was fabricated by the conventional method.
