    Description There are many studies, some discussed in this article, that recognize the numerous issues faced by women in medicine and the health care field. In response to the prevalence of these challenges, Riverside Community Hospital\'s General Medical Education department organized the second Women in Medicine & Healthcare Symposium on November 17, 2023. The symposium featured a panel of women leaders addressing challenges, such as work-life balance, maternity leave, fertility concerns, and family planning. Personal stories and studies on gender bias and infertility shed light on the shared experiences of women physicians. The positive response prompted Riverside Community Hospital to view the event as the first step in creating a supportive community.

    OBJECTIVE: To investigate how nursing students\' professional identity, clinical learning environment, financial incentives, and career opportunities influence their intention to migrate.
    BACKGROUND: There is a preponderance of studies about nurse migration and its impact on the global nursing workforce. However, a critical gap remains about nursing students\' intentions to migrate, particularly among developing countries like the Philippines.
    METHODS: Using a cross-sectional design, third- and fourth-year nursing students (n = 316) from the largest comprehensive university in Manila were conveniently recruited. Data were collected from November to December 2023 using five validated self-report scales. Descriptive (e.g., mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (e.g., Spearman rho, covariance-based structural equation modeling) were used to analyze data.
    RESULTS: The emerging model demonstrated acceptable model fit indices. Nursing students\' professional identity (β = 0.18, p = 0.043) and financial incentives (β = 0.10, p = 0.046) significantly and positively influence the intention to migrate. The satisfaction with future career opportunities (β = -0.12, p = 0.038) and clinical learning environment perception (β = -0.15, p = 0.048) negatively influence the intention to migrate. These four predictors accounted for 4.60% of the total variance of intention to migrate.
    CONCLUSIONS: Nursing students\' professional identity and financial incentives directly impact intent to migrate, whereas future career opportunities satisfaction and clinical learning environment inversely affect intent to migrate.
    CONCLUSIONS: This study underscores the imperative for nursing colleges and faculty to promote positive professional identity and provide a conducive clinical learning environment to develop sustainable nurses\' migration policies.

    Soft skills are the elementary management, personal, and interpersonal abilities that are vital for an individual to be efficient at workplace or in their personal life. Each work place requires different set of soft skills. Thus, in addition to scientific/technical skills that are easier to access within a short time frame, several key soft skills are essential for the success of a researcher in today\'s international work environment. In this paper, the trainees and trainers of the EU-CardioRNA COST Action CA17129 training school on soft skills present basic and advanced soft skills for early career researchers. Here, we particularly emphasize on the importance of transferable and presentation skills, ethics, literature reading and reviewing, research protocol and grant writing, networking, and career opportunities for researchers. All these skills are vital but are often overlooked by some scholars. We also provide tips to ace in aforementioned skills that are crucial in a day-to-day life of early and late career researchers in academia and industry.

    There is limited literature describing the outcomes of formal career guidance in pharmacy programs. This study assessed the course outcomes including students\' satisfaction, achievement of the learning objectives and scoring on assignments.
    A 1-credit elective course aims at providing second- and third-year professional pharmacy students (P2 and P3) to career guidance. The main topics address career planning and paths, communication skills, personal and professional development, leadership and entrepreneurship. Included are written assignments, oral group presentations and mock interviews.
    Data on 303 students, including 279 P2 and 24 P3, between 2012 and 2021 were analyzed using course evaluations, direct assessment and scoring. Average evaluations ratings were consistently above 4 on a 5-point scale including the clarity of the course policies and procedures (4.61) and its objectives and requirements (4.59), organization (4.58), instructors\' simulated questions, responses, discussion and openness to other viewpoints (4.57) and quality (4.5). Students found the experience to be interesting and relevant to pharmacy practice. All students scored above 70% on the course assignments.
    Students were satisfied with the course and gave high ratings to the course content, delivery and in meeting its learning objectives. They scored high on the different course assignments. These findings are similar to the results of other studies reporting students\' satisfaction with career guidance.
    The career opportunities course is popular among pharmacy students who consistently reported their satisfaction with its content, design and delivery.

    Career choice research has attracted the attention of recruiters and young graduates. The study aims to investigate the psychological factors that influence college students\' employment choices. As a result, data for the study were gathered from 250 final-year college students in China via an online questionnaire survey. The study identified the psychological barriers faced by college students during job interviews through interviews with 120 h recruiters. The SPPS tool is used for data analysis. The study identified personal interest, self-efficacy, and self- esteem; social responsibilities; confidence; professional development opportunities; and future orientation as the important psychological factors that influence the career choice of college students. The study also found that the barriers faced by the college students during the interview were anxiety, inferiority complex, cowardice, and pride. Therefore, the study suggests that the college provides job-oriented training for college students\' employment choices. The college should take the initiative to provide students with career opportunities and proper training to avoid psychological barriers during interviews.

    The mid-career in a surgeon\'s life is not well defined in the literature. I define the mid-career as having two phases: the early phase, which is approximately 10 to 15 years in practice, and the later phase, which is at 15 to 25 years. However, these ranges are not the same for all; what matters is experience, exposure, repetition, and judgment, which come with time and commitment. During the mid-career, a surgeon becomes more confident in mastering techniques and teaching the next generation. If one\'s next job is a leadership position, one must realize that leadership is not about oneself but about elevating others.

    Over the past two decades, there has been an increased demand for Public Health Education (PHE) in South Asia. While this region has a large number of Public Health (PH) institutions, the quality of PHE has not been aligned with the core PH competencies. In this article, we present an overview of Master of Public Health (MPH) programs across South Asian countries. An extensive systematic search on various web search engines regarding PH course offerings was conducted, including specific institute and educational websites. By 2021, more than 180 institutions in South Asia provided an MPH degree. Most of these institutions/universities were found in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and a few among these institutions were established as independent Schools of Public Health (SPH), separate from medical colleges, and had a multidisciplinary faculty. But, dedicated training facilities in the specialized field of public health were not found in most of these institutions. Generally, a well-defined MPH curriculum is not currently available except in India where the University Grants Commission (UGC) guideline for a model MPH curriculum has been proposed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The entry criteria for an MPH degree in India is accepting students in multidisciplinary fields, while in other South Asian countries this is primarily restricted to medical/paramedical students with a basic understanding of preventive medicine. The aim of this review was to document the current and future PHE opportunities and challenges in South Asia.

    UNASSIGNED: The growing demand for Hematology and Oncology services has greatly piqued the interest of potential residents towards this specialty. Since the programs\' official websites are now becoming the primary source of information that potential residents turn to, we aimed to analyze program websites\' content and availability across parameters that have been used by evaluators of websites.
    UNASSIGNED: & Materials: A list of 181 fellowship programs were identified using The Fellowship and Residency Electronic and Interactive Database (FRIEDA). 160/181 were accessed via a hyperlink or Google search. Content of these websites was evaluated on a 40-point criteria system in 10 distinct domains. Websites without accessible links were excluded from the search.
    UNASSIGNED: The 160 programs were divided based on the region with the North-East having the most programs (32.5%) and the West having the least programs (12.4%). Exactly 3/4th of the websites had been updated with the latest available information. \"Program overview\" (89%) was the most common domain present on the websites while \"Alumni\" was the least common, present on only (25%) of the websites.
    UNASSIGNED: When compared with previous similar research, there have been a few significant improvements across the programs\' websites, however many still lack important information regarding certain domains. The content and availability of the program\'s website can encourage or deter an applicant, in their decision to apply to the program, hence making it necessary for programs to augment their websites.

    BACKGROUND: There exists anecdotal evidence that influential faculty members actively dissuade orthopedic surgery residents from pursuing a fellowship in shoulder and elbow due to a perceived lack of availability of jobs following graduation. The aims of the present study are to evaluate whether this perception is true by characterizing the early career opportunities and practice characteristics of recent graduates of shoulder and elbow fellowship programs through a survey of graduates of the past 5 years.
    METHODS: An anonymous 39-question survey was designed and approved by the leadership of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). The survey was distributed via electronic mail to the fellowship directors and coordinators of the 31 ASES-recognized shoulder and elbow fellowship programs. The fellowship directors and coordinators then sent the survey to the shoulder and elbow fellowship graduates of the last 5 years (2016-2020). Following a total of 4 emails, the survey closed after 8 weeks, and descriptive statistical analysis was performed.
    RESULTS: Seventy-six of 171 (44.4%) fellows responded. In total, 89.5% were very or somewhat satisfied with their fellowship experience, and 90.8% would pursue a shoulder and elbow fellowship again. Notably, 100% of shoulder and elbow fellowship graduates surveyed in the past 5 years have secured employment. The average number of total orthopedic and shoulder and elbow cases performed annually was 296.7 (SD 141.3) and 173.9 (SD 120.2), respectively. In addition, 62.7% and 89% of respondents were very or somewhat satisfied with the volume and surgical complexity of shoulder and elbow cases, respectively. For the fellows that believed their case experience to be inadequate, the most common reasons were competition from other practices (66.0%) and inadequate patient volume (59.6%).
    CONCLUSIONS: Recent graduates of the ASES-recognized shoulder and elbow fellowship programs demonstrate a high level of satisfaction with the fellowship and their subspeciality selection. The majority of fellows believed that completing a shoulder and elbow fellowship enhanced their job opportunities. Altogether, there are ample job opportunities and high satisfaction with the volume and complexity of cases as an early career shoulder and elbow surgeon.
