    UNASSIGNED: While the value of individual biosimilars is evident, little is known about the value of a biosimilar portfolio beyond the cost savings between biosimilars and originators. Stakeholders may consider the value of a manufacturer\'s biosimilar portfolio, especially when negotiating portfolio-based contracts or other rebate programs. However, little is known about what other types of value, in addition to financial benefits, decision-makers perceive regarding a manufacturer with a biosimilar portfolio compared to those without one. The objective of this integrative literature review was to describe a conceptual framework consisting of themes that may help define the value of a biosimilar portfolio.
    UNASSIGNED: An integrative literature review was conducted using Excerpta Medica Database (Embase) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE). Grey literature searches of search engines, journals not indexed in Embase or MEDLINE, healthcare payers, health technology assessment bodies, value frameworks, and non-pharmaceutical industry analogs were also conducted. Eligible studies reported on the value of a biosimilar portfolio in decision-making by stakeholders. Apart from the literature, insights were gained from clinical experience and observation.
    UNASSIGNED: No studies investigating biosimilar portfolio value were identified; however, several themes were identified that may help define the value of a biosimilar portfolio: Manufacturing; procurement, inventory, and storage; administration; education; and transaction costs. Several non-pharmaceutical industry analogs were identified: Product line length and single-supplier versus multiple-supplier procurement. Several themes were identified through other sources: Science credibility and research. Based on these themes, we developed a conceptual framework for biosimilar portfolio value.
    UNASSIGNED: To our knowledge, this is the first study to systematically assess and create a framework for biosimilar portfolio value. The conceptual framework described here could be tested to quantify the clinical and economic value associated with a biosimilar portfolio.
    Though the value of single biosimilars is evident, little is known about the value of a biosimilar portfolio beyond the cost savings incurred between biosimilars and originators.We identified seven themes that may help to define the value of a biosimilar portfolio: Manufacturing; procurement, inventory, and storage; administration; education; transaction costs; science credibility; and research.These themes may be integrated into a conceptual framework that may form a basis to help quantify the clinical and economic benefit of a biosimilar portfolio to stakeholders.

    Building an investment portfolio is a problem that numerous researchers have addressed for many years. The key goal has always been to balance risk and reward by optimally allocating assets such as stocks, bonds, and cash. In general, the portfolio management process is based on three steps: planning, execution, and feedback, each of which has its objectives and methods to be employed. Starting from Markowitz\'s mean-variance portfolio theory, different frameworks have been widely accepted, which considerably renewed how asset allocation is being solved. Recent advances in artificial intelligence provide methodological and technological capabilities to solve highly complex problems, and investment portfolio is no exception. For this reason, the paper reviews the current state-of-the-art approaches by answering the core question of how artificial intelligence is transforming portfolio management steps. Moreover, as the use of artificial intelligence in finance is challenged by transparency, fairness and explainability requirements, the case study of post-hoc explanations for asset allocation is demonstrated. Finally, we discuss recent regulatory developments in the European investment business and highlight specific aspects of this business where explainable artificial intelligence could advance transparency of the investment process.

    Growing evidence highlights the significant impact of diet to modify low-grade inflammation closely linked to cardiometabolic profile. Multifunctionnal diets, combining several compounds have been shown to beneficially impact metabolic parameters.
    This study synthesizes the knowledge on the impact of RCTs combining dietary multifunctional compounds on low-grade inflammation in humans. We investigate whether the effects of dietary multifunctional interventions on inflammatory markers were parallel to alterations of cardiometabolic parameters.
    We considered both the integrated dietary interventions (ID, i.e. global diets such as Mediterranean, Nordic…) and the dietary interventions based on selected bioactive mix (BM) compounds, in healthy individuals and those at cardiometabolic risk. Out of 221 screened publications, we selected 27 studies: 11 for BM (polyphenols and/or omega-3 fatty acids and/or antioxidants and/or dietary fiber) and 16 for ID (Mediterranean, paleo, Nordic, Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet…).
    ID studies reflected significant improvements in inflammatory markers (CRP, IL-6, IL-10, IL-1b), concomitantly with beneficial changes in metabolic parameters. In BM studies, pronounced effects on low-grade inflammatory markers were observed, while improvements in metabolic parameters were not consistent. Both types of studies suggested a favorable impact on oxidative stress, a factor closely linked to the inflammatory profile.
    Our findings showed that multifunctional RCT diets have differential role in managing low-grade inflammation and cardiometabolic health, with a large heterogeneity in explored inflammatory markers. Further research is imperative to elucidate the link between low-grade inflammation and other cardiometabolic risk factors, such as intestinal inflammation or postprandial inflammatory dynamics, aiming to attain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms involved in these processes. These future investigations not only have the potential to deepen our insights into the connections among these elements but also pave the way for significant advancements in the prevention and management of conditions related to the cardiovascular and metabolic systems.

    BACKGROUND: Portfolio with a collection of evidence has become popular in higher education, including dental education. It is valuable to study the experiences of the use and implementation processes. Meta-ethnography can be a suitable method to analyse, synthesize and construct interpretations of qualitative research. Our aim was to explore experiences from the use of a portfolio/e-portfolio in dental education, from the students\' and teachers\' perspectives.
    METHODS: A systematic search in the databases PubMed, Scopus and ERC was performed, and the established seven steps of a meta-ethnographic review were used. 278 papers were initially identified, and seven were included in the final analysis.
    RESULTS: Two themes (Issues to Address and Consequences) and five subthemes (Purpose, Roles, Support and Structure, Challenges and Enablers, and Gains) were constructed.
    CONCLUSIONS: Our synthesis reflects various challenges, yet the learning gains are recognized and expressed to be important once the students and teachers have overcome early thresholds. Beyond the conclusions drawn in each paper, our synthesis provides new perspectives on the complexity of an implementation process and the balance of not seeing the woods for the trees being overwhelmed by technical and other practical aspects, reducing the opportunity for learning.
    CONCLUSIONS: The portfolio implementation in undergraduate dental education should address clarification to all stakeholders of the purpose and role, presenting a purposeful portfolio structure and timely support.

    UNASSIGNED: Medical Student Portfolios (MSP)s allow medical students to reflect and better appreciate their clinical, research and academic experiences which promotes their individual personal and professional development. However, differences in adoption rate, content design and practice setting create significant variability in their employ. With MSPs increasingly used to evaluate professional competencies and the student\'s professional identity formation (PIF), this has become an area of concern.
    UNASSIGNED: We adopt Krishna\'s Systematic Evidence-Based Approach to carry out a Systematic Scoping Review (SSR in SEBA) on MSPs. The structured search process of six databases, concurrent use of thematic and content analysis in the Split Approach and comparisons of the themes and categories with the tabulated summaries of included articles in the Jigsaw Perspective and Funnelling Process offers enhanced transparency and reproducibility to this review.
    UNASSIGNED: The research team retrieved 14501 abstracts, reviewed 779 full-text articles and included 96 articles. Similarities between the themes, categories and tabulated summaries allowed the identification of the following funnelled domains: Purpose of MSPs, Content and structure of MSPs, Strengths and limitations of MSPs, Methods to improve MSPs, and Use of E-portfolios.
    UNASSIGNED: Variability in the employ of MSPs arise as a result of a failure to recognise its different roles and uses. Here we propose additional roles of MSPs, in particular, building on a consistent set of content materials and assessments of milestones called micro-competencies. Whislt generalised micro-competencies assess achievement of general milestones expected of all medical students, personalised micro-competencies record attainment of particular skills, knowledge and attitudes balanced against the medical student\'s abilities, context and needs. This combination of micro-competencies in a consistent framework promises a holistic, authentic and longitudinal perspective of the medical student\'s development and maturing PIF.

    The Commission on Dental Accreditations states that \"graduates must be competent in the use of critical thinking and problem-solving.\" With this in mind, dental education programs continually strive to enhance and deepen these skills by incorporating effective instructional strategies into the curriculum. To do this, predoctoral dental education has used a variety of techniques including problem-based learning, OSCEs, and standardized patient activities. Another technique, while less popular but potentially more effective if done well, is reflective writing. This study aimed to assess the effect of reflective writing on students\' critical thinking skills and learning in dental education programs. Two database searches conducted between 2000 and 2019 resulted in 317 articles after the initial screening. Ultimately, 13 articles met inclusion criteria. The following recurring factors were identified for inclusion in dental education reflective writing initiative: reflective writing interventions, reflective writing instructions, writing prompts, evaluation frameworks, and negative perceptions of reflective writing. In answering the key aim of this review, 12 of the 13 studies determined that reflective writing had a positive impact on students\' critical thinking, judgment, and/or learning. Key findings included positive effects on student growth in reflection, learning through reflective writing, reflection skills, self-assessment, critical thinking, clinical reasoning, problem solving, and motivation to change after evaluated experiences. The review indicated that dental education programs, which implemented reflective writing as an assessment tool within the curriculum as a means of developing and deepening critical thinking skills and learning were by and large successful in this effort.

    UNASSIGNED: Little has been published about competency-based education in academic medicine, in particular how competencies are or should be assessed. This paper re-examines a competency-based assessment for M.S. students in clinical research, and \"assesses the assessment\" 4 years into its implementation.
    UNASSIGNED: Data were gathered from student surveys and interviews with program advisors, and common themes were identified. We then made refinements to the assessment, and student surveys were administered to evaluate the impact of the changes.
    UNASSIGNED: Research results suggested the need to improve communication, time the assessment to align with skills development and opportunities for planning, streamline, and clarify expectations with examples and templates. After implementing these changes, data suggest that student satisfaction has improved without any reduction in academic rigor.
    UNASSIGNED: The effective implementation of competency-based training in clinical and translational research requires the development of a scholarly literature on effective methods of assessment. This paper contributes to that nascent body of research.

    BACKGROUND: One of the processes leading to education and evaluation promotion in nursing is mentoring. Moreover, using a portfolio leads to promotion of the mentoring process. Due to the importance of mentoring in nursing, its strengthening by the portfolio, the weakness of mentoring in nursing, and the lack of widespread use of portfolio in nursing education, the aim of this study was to determine portfolio content, which can help the mentoring performance.
    METHODS: The present scoping review study was conducted in 2017. Articles were searched using the keywords portfolio, mentoring, nursing education, logbook, teaching, learning, nursing, education, and evaluation. The search was conducted in SID, IranMedex, IranDoc, Magiran, PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect databases. Studies published in Persian and English from 1997 to 2017 were reviewed. The studies were extracted based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
    RESULTS: Of the 1070 articles searched, 6 were extracted for the final assessment. The results indicated that a portfolio consists of a title page, content list, introduction, record of experience, mentor\'s feedback and comments, self-evaluation, and educational activities. Furthermore, nursing process is required to help conduct mentoring among nursing students.
    CONCLUSIONS: Recording experiences, feedback, etc., in the portfolios of nursing students can be helpful in conducting mentoring for student\'s education. It is suggested that educational managers perform mentoring in educational environments using the contents suggested in this study.

    OBJECTIVE: To optimise the career development in early career academic nurses by providing an overview of the attributes necessary for success.
    BACKGROUND: Evidence of early prospective career planning is necessary to optimise success in the tertiary sector. This is particularly important for nurse academics given the profession\'s later entry into academia, the ageing nursing workforce and the continuing global shortage of nurses.
    METHODS: A qualitative systematic review.
    METHODS: Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, Medline, ERIC, Professional Development Collection and Google Scholar databases were searched; resulting in the inclusion of nine qualitative nurse-only focussed studies published between 2004 and 2014. The studies were critically appraised and the data thematically analysed.
    RESULTS: Three abilities were identified as important to the early career academic nurse: a willingness to adapt to change, an intention to pursue support and embodying resilience. These abilities give rise to attributes that are recommended as key to successful academic career development for those employed on a continuing academic basis.
    CONCLUSIONS: The capacity to rely on one\'s own capabilities is becoming seen as increasingly important. It is proposed that recognition of these attributes, their skilful application and monitoring outlined in the review are recommended for a successful career in academia.
