The study combines an emic and etic perspective to test the relationships between three different (Western and non-Western) leadership styles, that is, transformational, authoritarian, and benevolent paternalistic, and follower emotional exhaustion in a high-power distance context of Russia. It employs hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) to analyse a sample of 403 followers to middle-level managers in Russian organizations. The analysis finds only transformational leadership to be generally negatively associated with emotional exhaustion. However, under conditions of high individual-level power distance orientation among followers, this association diminishes whereas that of authoritarian leadership and exhaustion increases. Benevolent paternalistic leadership is unrelated to emotional exhaustion. The study extends research on the relative importance of Western and non-Western leadership behaviors for employee wellbeing in high-power distance contexts and on how this importance differs across followers, thus highlighting the role of follower expectations in determining the effectiveness of leadership. It points toward the need for future research to simultaneously test the contingencies and relative importance of paternalistic, authoritarian, transformational, as well as other leadership styles in various cultures as well as to continue exploring the moderating influence of various cultural value orientations on these leadership styles\' follower effects.

BACKGROUND: Human resources are the most important organizational resources and play the most important role in the production and productivity cycle. Considering the importance of people\'s health and the study of their burnout as a possible cause of occupational cognitive failures, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between burnout, cognitive failure, and general health.
METHODS: A cross-sectional-analytical study was conducted in Iran Tire Factory. The statistical population of this study was 302 personnel who were randomly selected. Data were collected by four valid questionnaires (demographic information, Maslach burnout, cognitive failure, and general health questionnaire). Then data were analyzed using SPSS software.
RESULTS: The results of the analysis revealed a significant and direct relationship between burnout and cognitive failure (p < .001), and a significant inverse relationship was found between cognitive failure and physical health (p = .022). The other results showed that emotional exhaustion and depersonalization dimensions are significantly associated with cognitive failure (p < .001, p = .016).
CONCLUSIONS: According to the results of this study, burnout causes cognitive failures among factory personnel and on the other hand, cognitive failures affect the physical health of individuals and lead to deterioration of physical health, which in turn can reduce a person\'s performance and reduce work efficiency.

The data belongs to a sample of 201 frontline workers in Malaysia. This demographic data was collected using a cross-sectional questionnaire via an online survey and analyzed using SPSS version 25. This data was used to investigate the relationship between workplace incivility, emotional exhaustion and adaptive performance (handling emergencies, handling work stress, creative problem solving, learning new tasks, technology and procedure and demonstrating interpersonal adaptability) among frontline workers. The analyzed data will be useful in contributing to further research into the effects of workplace incivility on employees\' well-being and job performance. It will also give insights to stakeholders and those at managerial level who formulate appropriate intervention plans to overcome or reduce the issue of workplace bullying among frontline workers.

BACKGROUND: In developing countries such as Mexico, the effects of burnout syndrome (BS) are observed in manufacturing industries. However, the relationships among BS, Job Content (JC), and Musculoskeletal Complaints (MC) are scarcely studied within the manufacturing sector, even though senior and middle managers are exposed to highly demanding and mentally exhausting situations.
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this paper is to determine the relationships among the three BS dimensions, MC, and JC among middle and senior managers of the manufacturing industry in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
METHODS: The Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey (MBI-GS), the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), and the Body Map assessment were administered as data collection instruments. The sample included 361 participants from six industries located in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Also, we proposed structural equations models (SEM) to establish the relationships among variables.
RESULTS: The questionnaires and the model showed acceptable reliability and quality indices. Emotional exhaustion was the most relevant latent variable, having significant effects on MC and on professional efficacy, and significantly contributing to increasing levels of cynicism. On the other hand, the variable social support showed a negative direct impact on Job Demands and Emotional Exhaustion.
CONCLUSIONS: Actions to reduce emotional exhaustion at work include providing a positive and suitable work environment through social support. These strategies help prevent MC and improve professional efficacy, life quality at work, and productivity.
