    BACKGROUND: Zika virus (ZIKV) is transmitted to humans throughout bites of Aedes mosquitoes. ZIKV infection may be asymptomatic in most cases, but it may cause fever, headache, muscle pain, and rash. Guillain-Barré syndrome also may be associated with the infection. Furthermore, the Pan American Health Organization informed 3,715 cases of the congenital ZIKV syndrome (CZS) in the Americas from 2015 - 2017, which may include microcephaly and other craniofacial deformities.
    UNASSIGNED: This review identifies patent documents on repositioning for ZIKV infection treatment of already approved drugs or phases II/III investigated drugs for other diseases. Thirty-six patents were found reporting compounds with anti-ZIKV activity with application dates ranging from 2015 to 2019.
    UNASSIGNED: The main drugs claimed in patents were ribavirin, sofosbuvir, and alpha interferons. Preventing CZS is one of the most significant challenges in ZIKV infection. Therefore, repositioning sofosbuvir and niclosamide, that pose no danger for pregnant women, is a particular issue to be considered for clinical tests involving ZIKV disease. Given the substantial costs and developing time of new a drug, repositioning of old drugs is becoming an attractive alternative for diseases with neglected treatments.

    Conventional drug discovery is a time consuming and expensive expedition with less clinical preference achievement proportion intended for breast cancer therapy. Even if numerous novel approaches to the conformation of drugs have been introduced for breast cancer therapy, they are yet to be implemented in clinical practice. This tempting strategy facilitates a remarkable chance to take the entire benefit of existing drugs. Despite drug repurposing significantly decrease the investigational period and cost, it has got many objections and issues. Scaffold repurposing is an approach that procures a novel significance on the decrepit motto of \"to commencement with a pristine drug\" . Hence, we move into a probable and nearer approach, the exploitation of scaffolds, which was originally developed for other purposes, including anti-tumor activity. In this review, we summarize different drugs and scaffolds used in breast cancer therapy.

    Preventive chemotherapy is a useful tool for the control of Taenia solium taeniasis and cysticercosis. The aim of this systematic review is to assess the scientific evidence concerning the effectiveness and safety of different drugs in preventive chemotherapy for T. solium taeniasis in endemic populations.
    A systematic review was conducted of controlled and uncontrolled studies, assessing the efficacy and adverse effects (among other outcomes) of albendazole, niclosamide and/or praziquantel for preventive chemotherapy of T. solium taeniasis. A comprehensive search was conducted for published and unpublished studies. Two reviewers screened articles, completed the data extraction and assessment of risk of bias. A meta-analysis of cure rate and relative reduction in prevalence was performed. The protocol for this review was registered on the International prospective register of systematic reviews (PROSPERO), number CRD42018112533.
    We identified 3555 records, of which we included 20 primary studies reported across 33 articles. Meta-analyses of drug and dose showed that a single dose of praziquantel 10mg/kg, albendazole 400mg per day for three consecutive days, or niclosamide 2g, resulted in better cure rates for T. solium taeniasis (99.5%, 96.4% and 84.3%, respectively) than praziquantel 5mg/kg or single dose albendazole 400mg (89.0% and 52.0%, respectively). These findings have a low certainty of evidence due to high risk of bias in individual studies and heterogeneity in combined estimates. In relation to side-effects, most studies reported either no or only mild and transient side-effects within the first three days following drug administration for all drugs and doses.
    Evidence indicated that praziquantel 10mg/kg, niclosamide 2g, and triple dose albendazole 400mg were effective as taenicides and could be considered for use in mass drug administration programs for the control of T. solium taeniasis. Evidence was not found that any of these drugs caused severe side effects at the indicated doses, although the extent of the available evidence was limited.

    A patient infected in Ethiopia with the beef tapeworm Taenia saginata was unsuccessfully treated with 2 g of niclosamide on four separate occasions over four months. clinical and parasitologic cures were effected by a regimen of 2 g of niclosamide given on three consecutive days. Niclosamide is the drug of choice for treatment of T. saginata and Taenia solium (pork tapeworm) infection; cure rates are approximately 90%. It is not absorbable and thus is nontoxic. Alternative treatments of taeniasis vary in the degree of safety; tin compounds and Aspidium extracts often are toxic. Paromomycin sulfate, which is also nonabsorbable, is effective, although adverse gastrointestinal effects are common with multiple-dose regimens. A relatively safe therapy is with mebendazole, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent, although efficacy has varied in different trials. A number of benzimidazoles, as well as nitazoxamide, have been effective against tapeworms. Praziquantel is the best alternative to niclosamide in terms of cost, efficacy, availability, and safety.
