Amyloidosis is characterized by extracellular accumulation of amyloid fibril proteins leading to organ malfunction. Even though AA amyloidosis can be observed in patients with systemic inflammatory diseases, it is a very rare complication in ankylosing spondylitis. SPECT/CT images showed diffuse tracer uptake in enlarged thyroid gland containing fat density areas.
