Due to ineffective early diagnostic methods, once detected, patients are in an advanced stage with a poor prognosis and few treatment options. With the development of omics technologies, the associations between microorganisms, bile acid and salts, noncoding RNAs and biliary tract malignancies have been gradually revealed, providing new methods for the discovery of diagnostic biomarkers. Here, we review the research advances in microbiomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics in the discovery of diagnostic biomarkers for biliary tract malignancies.
