Labs and cardiac imaging were suspicious for acute myocarditis. Genetic testing revealed a diagnosis of desmoplakin cardiomyopathy. Desmoplakin cardiomyopathy may be considered in patients with recurrent acute myocarditis or a family history of cardiac disease to avoid the potential for misdiagnosis.
