{Abstract}: Anterior vertebral body tether (AVBT) is a nonfusion surgical procedure for correction of scoliosis in skeletally immature individuals. With US Food and Drug Administration approval in 2019, AVBT technology is spreading and early to midterm reports are being published. Early clinical reports are promising while precise indications, outcomes, complication profiles, and best practices are being established. Patients who are skeletally immature and wish to avoid a fusion surgery may benefit from this procedure. This article highlights the translational science foundation, early to midterm clinical reports, and future directions for this growing technique in pediatric spinal deformity surgery.
