Despite this very strict specificity of expression, the germinal ACE promoter is active in transient transfection experiments in two somatic cell lines and one cell line of germinal origin. The analysis of the promoter shows the existence two regulatory elements within the first 350 bp: a proximal positive element and a distal negative element.
