It was of interest to note that maternal trypanosomiasis frequently was an anamnestic element in the diagnosis of these children. The short and long term evolution depend on the neuropsychological sequels which are themselves related to the gravity of the infection at initial examination. The errors in diagnosis and the delay in the institution of specific treatment are equally discussed.
