We here report the case of a 35-year-old man presenting with disabling back pain preceded by facial monoplegia, which was wrongly treated as Bell's palsy (paralysis a frigore) and then as post-traumatic lumbosciatica. The onset of facial diplegia allowed for a definitive diagnosis. The patient was treated with ceftriaxone and symptoms gradually improved.
