Electronic searches were conducted through the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase and PubMed. AMSTAR-2 was used to assess the methodological quality. The quality of evidence was assessed using the GRADE system. According to AMSTAR-2, the methodological quality of the included reviews was generally inadequate owing to the limitations of entries 2, 4 and 7. Due to bias risk and imprecision, the evidence quality of the outcome measures was inadequate. In conclusion, PRP may have a therapeutic effect on VUs. However, this conclusion must be treated with caution due to methodological flaws of the included systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
