METH use causes great harm to the major systems of the human body. Specifically, METH has a negative impact on the hypothalamic- pituitary-testicular axis, testicular structure, sperm function, ovarian folliculogenesis, oocyte quality, embryo development, and newborns. However, the mechanisms underlying these toxic effects have not yet been fully described. This study reviews the evidence concerning the impact of METH on male and female reproduction in the context of the testis, sperm, ovaries, oocytes, reproductive hormones, embryo development, and newborns, discussing the potential pathophysiological mechanisms in the reproductive toxicity induced by METH.
