%X Bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is implicated in disrupting the blood-brain barrier (BBB). In a recent issue of Nature, Wei et al. now show that LPS activates the inflammatory caspases (4, 5, and 11) and gasdermin D (GSDMD) in brain endothelial cells, which triggers their pyroptotic cell death and disrupts the BBB.
