%X •To date most reports on COVID-19 associated coagulopathy focused an increased activation of the plasmatic coagulation system.•Using a novel method to assess clot lysis we observed abnormalities in fibrinolysis in COVID-19 infection.•Our finding suggests that fibrinolysis system may contribute to the procoagulatory status in COVID-19 patients.
