Brachytherapy using plaque applicator is preferred over external beam radiation therapy when the tumor is well localized, as this therapy delivers radiation dose to the tumor with lower doses to normal tissues in the vicinity. However, plaque therapy is expensive and beyond the reach of many poor patients in India. The Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) recently introduced an indigenous Ruthenium-106 plaque to make brachytherapy treatment available and affordable to all needy patients in India. In the present case series, we report our experience using the indigenous Ru-106 plaque for the treatment of a spectrum of ocular tumors.
