We retrospectively examined the impact of empiric antimicrobials coupled with early surgery on mortality in NSTI. Early surgery independently reduced 30-day mortality (odds ratio, .16; 95% confidence interval, .05-.51; P < .001) that was not further augmented by empiric antimicrobial choice.
