Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that carry a variety of proteins, lipids and genetic material, participate in the exchange of local and intersystem information, and play an important immunoregulatory role in a variety of autoimmune diseases. At the same time, the use of exosomes as disease biomarkers and drug delivery carriers also shows great application prospects. This article reviews current progress in the application of exosomes in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of SLE.
