There are more than 50,000 nurse prescribers in the UK, and it is important that they undertake regular reflection on their clinical practice to enhance their skills. This article reflects on the clinical factors that influenced the author's decision-making when prescribing anticoagulation medication for a patient with deep vein thrombosis. It also explores the evidence base for commonly prescribed anticoagulants.
